Need help putting together a Graphic Design Portfolio for school?
knal76 asked:
I am trying to get into a great art school in the Los Angeles area, and I’m working on a portfolio to submit to the school. I need help in deciding what types of projects to do, and what gets the attention of admissions people. Is there any books you might recommend, or any online resources? Any help would be great.

possible options,
may also require an assessment fee and skill designing test,
studies you’ve taken in school so far, art, drafting, media,
and the grades you’ve made A+, 80%… etc.,
several sketches and drawings you’ve done on framed layouts,
creative photos you’ve taken,
any designs you drawn,
a writeup about your interest in graphic designs,
and/or a cd with info on it,
also to talk to the teacher of that course, to see if its right for you,
I would actually call up the professors at the school and ask. Your current teacher should also be able to help. If fails, make a visit to school website, school, and see if you can see current art or perhaps a catalog of student work. I’m not sure how high the bar is, but do the best you can do, and think about how you will “explain” your process. I think most people are impressed with dedication and thoughfulness — as talent is purely in the eye of the beholder.
